Black Owl

An early process and basic engineering platform for chemical and process engineers.

What it is for

Black Owl supports the early stages of a process project. You start with the design basis and the components, build block and process flow diagrams, balance the process, size the equipment and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams, and produce engineering documents from the same project.

Start from the design basis. Scope, product, battery limits and operating basis are recorded first, so later work has a clear starting point.
Build the flow diagrams. Draw block and process flow diagrams, and connect equipment with lines and streams.
Balance and size. Run the material balance and size the equipment shown on the process flow diagram.
Develop the piping and instrumentation diagram and deliverables. Carry the same project through to piping and instrumentation diagrams and engineering documents.

Place the equipment and route the lines.

Develop the P&ID from the same record.
